MyRCSD.org is committed to providing a web presence that enables full public access to Russell County District Schools information and services. As such, MyRCSD.org complies with high accessibility standards to meet the needs of users with disabilities. This statement applies to all sites associated with the Russell County School District site (http://www.MyRCSD.org), all subdomains, and included schools.
Barriers
Disabilities come in many forms, including but not limited to hearing impairment, visual impairment, and cognitive disorders. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate all users who utilize standards compliant web browsers, enabling software, or assistive devices.
Accessible Web design provides benefits to both those using assistive technology, as well as others. It provides benefit to users with text-based browsers, low-end processors, slow modem connections, or users who do not have state-of-the-art computer equipment. It also allows for easier access to the Internet via technologies such as internet-enabled phones or personal digital assistants.
Standard for Compliance
We strive to ensure the accessibility of MyRCSD.org for site visitors with special needs. We stay up to date on current practices and conduct testing throughout the development of the website and when applying new technologies and advancements. We use various testing tools, such as Wave and Cynthia Says, to verify that MyRCSD.org is in compliance with Section 508. We have made great efforts to make sure that the pages of this website are accessible in accordance with Alabama’s official standards and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Furthermore, MyRCSD.org has adopted the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
